JK-B2A8S-20P Just Got a Major Upgrade:V19.3 → V22.1 — Here's Every Detail

PRODUCT UPDATE July 14, 2026 · 5 min read

On July 14, 2026, JIKONG officially released a PCN (Product Change Notice) for the entire JK-B2A8S-20P product family — upgrading from firmware V19.3 to V22.1. This is not a minor patch. It includes physical dimension changes, new communication interfaces, and an optional built-in display. Here is what you need to know.

What Is a PCN?

A PCN (Product Change Notice) is a formal engineering document that manufacturers send to customers before making a permanent change to a product. It is standard practice in the electronics industry — particularly for safety-critical components like BMS units. The fact that JIKONG issues PCNs means they follow a controlled quality management process with traceability, which is exactly what you want from a BMS supplier.

Why this matters: Many BMS sellers on AliExpress or Amazon make silent hardware changes without notifying anyone. JIKONG documents every revision formally — that's a sign of a manufacturer that takes accountability seriously.

Which Models Are Affected?

This upgrade covers the full JK-B2A8S-20P product family:

JK-B2A8S-20P JK-B2A8S-20PC JK-B2A8S-20PR JK-B2A8S-20PCR JK-B2A8S-20PH JK-B2A8S-20PHC JK-B2A8S-20PHR JK-B2A8S-20PHCR JK-B2A8S-20PS + all series variants

What Actually Changed?

The PCN covers three categories of changes: physical dimensions, functional features, and connectors/interfaces.

1. Physical Dimensions — The Board Is Now More Compact

The V22.1 revision brings a measurable size reduction. The new design is more compact while maintaining the same thermal performance:

Parameter V19.3 (Before) V22.1 (After) Change
Overall Height 152.25 mm 132 mm -20.25 mm
Overall Width 127.26 mm 80.78 mm -46.48 mm
Thickness 15.60 mm 15.10 mm -0.50 mm
Mounting Holes 4-M6 + 4-3.50mm Simplified pattern Redesigned

The width reduction alone is 36.5% smaller. If you are designing a battery enclosure, this gives you significantly more room for cells, wiring, or cooling. However, if you have an existing fixture designed for V19.3, you will need to update your mounting layout.

2. New Functional Features

Three new capabilities have been added to the V22.1 hardware:

Discharge Pre-Charge

Pre-charges the load capacitor bank before the main contactor closes. Protects contacts from arcing and extends relay life. Optional — select at order.

🔗
Parallel RS485 Communication

Dedicated RS485 port for parallel BMS communication between multiple battery packs. Enables higher-voltage system builds. Optional — select at order.

🖥️
Built-In Display Screen

Real-time cell voltage, current, and status monitoring directly on the BMS — no phone or app required. Visible at a glance during installation and maintenance.

3. Connector and Interface Changes

The most important hardware change to be aware of:

Interface V19.3 V22.1
ACC + Charging Detection Separate connectors GH1.25-7P (combined)
Parallel RS485 Not available GH1.25-4P (new)
ACC Detection Mode Short-circuit only Short-circuit or external voltage (customer-selectable)

Compatibility note: If you have existing wiring harnesses designed for the V19.3 connector layout, you will need new harnesses for the V22.1 version. The ACC and charging detection connectors have been consolidated into a single GH1.25-7P connector, and the new parallel RS485 port uses a GH1.25-4P.

What This Means for You

If You're a New Customer

All new orders will ship with V22.1 firmware and the updated hardware. You're getting the latest version with the display screen, optional pre-charge, and optional parallel RS485 — at no additional cost for the base unit. Design your battery pack around the new dimensions in the table above.

If You're an Existing Customer

Your V19.3 unit continues to work perfectly — firmware updates are still supported through the JIKONG app. However, if you are planning a new build or need a replacement, the V22.1 version will have the updated physical layout and new features. Contact us at official@jkvolt.com if you need compatibility guidance.

If You're Building a Parallel System

The new dedicated parallel RS485 port (GH1.25-4P) is the headline feature for high-capacity builds. Previously, parallel communication shared the main RS485/CAN bus. The V22.1 gives you a separate, dedicated channel — cleaner signal integrity and simpler wiring for multi-pack systems.

Why the Big Version Jump (V19.3 → V22.1)?

A version jump from 19.x to 22.x signals that this is not just a bug fix. The V20.x and V21.x versions were likely internal iterations that refined the new hardware platform before public release. By the time V22.1 was ready, it represented a mature, tested revision worthy of customer deployment.

The PCN was formally approved on July 14, 2026 by JIKONG's R&D Center (signed by Ren Kai, approved by Liu Weiping) and classified as a permanent change — meaning all future production will use the V22.1 design.

Why Publishing This PCN Matters

Most BMS resellers never show you their product change documents. You buy a V2 board, and six months later the replacement you receive looks different, has different connectors, and your old wiring harness no longer fits. No warning. No explanation.

JIKONG's PCN process means:

Traceability

Every hardware revision is documented with a unique PCN, signed by engineering and preserved permanently in the QA department.

Transparency

We publish the full change details — dimensions, connectors, features — so you can plan your build accordingly.

No Surprises

You know exactly what changed before you place your next order. No silent swaps, no incompatible hardware showing up at your door.

Quality Maturity

Formal PCN process with department-level approvals indicates ISO-level quality management. This is how real manufacturers operate.
